Micro Variation

  • Addressing Tiling Issues:
  • Two main solutions:
    • Micro variation (color tinting)
    • Macro variation (large scale)
  • Micro Variation Implementation:
  • Base Setup:

    • Multiply base color with tint parameter
    • Default tint = white
  • Variation Process:

    1. Duplicate base color & tint
    2. Add seamless noise texture
      • Use T_Macro_Variation or Perlin
      • “Very small UV scale (0.01)”
    3. Linear Interpolate (Lerp):
      • A = Base tinted texture
      • B = Variation tinted texture
      • Alpha = Noise (red channel)
  • Key Components:
  • Parameters needed:
    • Base tint
    • Variation tint
    • Micro variation scale
  • “Uses only red channel of noise”
  • “Small scale crucial for subtle effect”
  • Results:
  • “Reduces obvious tiling at close range”
  • “Still needs macro variation for distance views”
  • Customizable via material instance
